The short version: you choose what your brief is written from, and it isn't stored. Your briefs and recordings are never used to train AI models. Delete everything in one click.

01Who we are

This policy explains what Staging Mind ("we", "us") collects when you use this website and the Staging Mind practice app on it, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email hello@stagingmind.dev.

02What we collect

  • Account details. When you sign in with Google or GitHub we receive your name, email address and profile picture. If you sign up with an email address and password, we store your name, your email address and a scrambled (hashed) copy of your password. You also give us a first name and a role so the panel can address you.
  • Briefs. The short summary of your work the panel reads before your meeting, written for you from what you choose to add. Briefs are sent to our AI provider to run your session and are not saved in our database.
  • Writing your brief from your work. You can have Staging Mind write your brief from your git repository, screenshots, tickets or notes, on the practice page or with the command line tool (stagingmind prep). The repository is read on your computer, in your browser or by the command line tool, and only read: nothing in it is changed. The commit messages and code excerpts it reads, and the screenshots, files and notes you add, are sent to Anthropic through Staging Mind to write the brief, are not stored by Staging Mind, and are not used for training. It never reads .env files, keys or other files that look like secrets, and it removes anything that looks like a key or token before sending. The finished brief, and the code it picks for the panel to ask about, stay on your computer. That code is kept in your browser tab only, sent to Anthropic with each panel question and with your debrief during the session, and is not stored on our servers. You can look at the brief and the code, and remove any of the code, before you start. If you pick a repository folder in your browser, the browser remembers which folder it was so you can use it again; it asks your permission each time.
  • Session audio and transcripts. During a session your microphone audio is streamed for transcription. The transcript, the panel's questions and the hints you asked for are used to run the session and write your debrief, and are then discarded. We store a summary of numbers for each finished session (such as time to first word, freezes, filler words and answer length).
  • Billing details. If you pay, Stripe handles your card details. We receive your plan, billing status and the information Stripe needs to show us for receipts. We never see your full card number.
  • Feedback. If you answer the short questions the app asks (how ready you feel, how the real meeting went, and how you would feel without Staging Mind), we store your answers and any comment you write.
  • Technical data. Our host keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser and time of request) to run and secure the service. This website uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you across sites.

03How we use it

  • To run your rehearsal sessions: generate the panel's questions, hints and your debrief.
  • To show your session history and progress over time.
  • To manage your plan, limits and payments.
  • To learn whether Staging Mind helps, from your feedback answers and session numbers.
  • To contact you about your account or important changes to the service.
  • To keep the service secure and working, and to fix problems.

We do not sell your data.

04AI models and training

Your briefs and recordings are never used to train AI models.

We do not use your briefs, audio or transcripts to train AI models, and the speech and AI providers listed below process them only to run your sessions.

05Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers (subprocessors) to run Staging Mind:

  • Deepgram: turns your microphone audio into text, and turns the panel's lines into speech.
  • Anthropic: receives the text of your brief and answers to write the panel's questions, hints and your debrief feedback.
  • Stripe: processes payments and manages subscriptions.
  • Vercel: hosts this website and the Staging Mind app.
  • Fly.io: runs our servers, including the speech server, in London.
  • Neon: hosts the Postgres database.

Each provider only receives what it needs to do its job and is bound by its own data processing terms. We will update this list before adding a new provider that handles your personal data.

06Retention and deletion

We keep your account data, session summaries and feedback for as long as you have an account. Briefs and transcripts are not kept after your session. Delete your account and all your data in one click from your account settings, and we delete it from our systems. Payment records may be kept for longer where the law requires it.

07Your rights

  • Export: download all your data as JSON from your account settings.
  • Delete: delete your account and all your data in one click from your account settings.
  • Access, correction and objection: email hello@stagingmind.dev and we will respond within 30 days.

If you are in the UK or the EU you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority, such as the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK.

08Cookies

We use one essential cookie, only to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

09Changes to this policy

If we make a significant change we will update the date at the top of this page and, if you have an account, let you know by email.
